Expansion of the Charlotte (N.C.) Convention Center to Begin in 2019

The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority in North Carolina has announced plans for a $110 million expansion project at the Charlotte Convention Center, to begin in spring 2019. Funding from the city's Convention Tax Fund, which has been approved by the Charlotte City Council, will cover the project, which will increase the breakout space on the Stonewall Street side of the venue, expand accessibility to the Center City via a pedestrian bridge and add flexible breakout space in the Richardson Ballroom. Construction will start after Charlotte hosts the NBA All-Star Game in February 2019, with the new space set to open in December 2020.
