This Courtyard is exceptional! Management has done an excellent job of developing customer service culture here. Staff is extremely accommodatingfrom the front desk, to the cafe, to the shuttle driverseveryone is on a mission to provide excellent service. Well done staff and management. This location actually doesnt mind stepping over dimes to gather dollarswhen other hotels try and nickle and dime, add fees, crap service. Really is a testament to hiring the right staff, instilling the right culture will lead to customer loyalty and success. Location is also perfect. So many good food options in the area, walkable including a Whole Foods buffet (although kinda lame as WF buffets go). Was here for a training event and really appreciate the effort the staff puts forth to earn you as a guest.

I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Waverly. Tuesday, April 14th, 2026- I booked over the phone a week in advance and was clearly told my total would be $546 for 3 nights, including a 10% hospital discount since Im in town for surgery. I even called the next day because I never got a confirmation email, and Joel Coffey (front desk manager) told me their new system doesnt send confirmations but that I was all set. After driving 10 hours from South Florida and arriving in pain the day before surgery, I was immediately shown a total of $728 at check-in with no explanation. When I politely asked about the price and my discount, I was dismissed and left standing in the lobby. Later on Joel Coffey then told me, Are you going to take your credit card out and pay? If not, youre welcome to leave. Angela Shell and Mary Katherine Lowry were also involved and were equally dismissiveno eye contact, no empathy, and no attempt to resolve the issue. Not a single staff member, including Russel Frye, made any effort to fix the situation or even apologize. To make matters worse, my personal email address was read out loud in the lobby. I did everything rightbooked ahead, called to confirm, explained I was coming for surgeryand was still treated like I didnt belong there. I ended up leaving in tears. This hotel lacks basic hospitality, professionalism, and compassion. I would never recommend staying here, especially if youre traveling for something important or medical-related.

I'm a stickler for reviewing and being picky. I stayed at this hotel for an event and the rooms were nice and the most important part: the beds were clean. Also, the location is good - there are many restaurants and places to shop nearby.

Hotel DOES NOT CHANGE SHEETS AND BEDDING! If you want to sleep in the same bed as some old man and come out smelling like their BO and sweat the next day, stay here. Ive rented 4 times in the last 2 months while traveling and all 4 times I had to have them switch my room over and over because the entire room smells like dirty body odor, and the sheets have the imprint of a body in them. Absolutely disgusting! Add in a passive aggressive employee at the desk. (The male, not the females, the female employees understand and know they dont change the sheets) plus the bathroom walls are disgusting. This is one of the cleaner bathrooms, others look like a crime scene.

We had a one-night, non-refundable reservation at this location for this upcoming weekend. Due to the significant winter storm forecasted to impact North Carolina, we contacted Expedia requesting a simple date change to a different weekend for safety reasons. This request was denied by the hotel. When I called the hotel directly to speak with the manager on duty, Angela, the interaction was shockingly dismissive and lacked any empathy or concern for guest safety during a major weather event. She attempted to place blame on Expedia, despite the fact that Expedia was actively trying to assist us and would have refunded our stay or moved it to another weekend had the hotel approved the change. I expressed my disappointment with Angela that a reasonable accommodation could not be made, even under these circumstances. The conversation ultimately ended with the manager hanging up on me. This behavior was unprofessional and completely inconsistent with the standards I expect from a Courtyard by Marriott property. We have stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past with positive experiences, which makes this incident even more disappointing. However, the hotels refusal to show any flexibility and the manner in which I was treated left a very poor impression. Customer service and guest care are the primary reasons we choose Marriott properties, and this experience fell far below those expectations. We will not be returning to this location and reconsidering any future Marriott hotels.
